SiteFixers.com is the creation of Roger Scimé, a writer, musician, entrepreneur, dreamer, journalist, and songwriter, He feels that the combination of right / left brain has proved integral to his success, while leaving him somewhat dizzy at times. The surname is pronounced shim-‘MAY.
PERSONAL STORY
Scimé grew up in Long Beach, Long Island, NY and attended what was probably the best public high school in the world. It was there that his musical and writing abilities flourished. In 1965, he performed with Jimmy and the Abstracts at Tamarack Lodge in the Catskills — now closed and said to be haunted.
After graduating in 1966, he moved to Hollywood to pursue his dream of becoming a professional musician. He was neighbors with both the actor Bob Balaban and Byrds‘ member, the late Gene Clark. And, while he remembers standing in line for hours to play for free at the weekly “Hootenanny” held at Doug Weston’s Troubadour with a young Jackson Browne, Scimé never achieved anything near Browne’s success.
In 1972, Scimé travelled to Europe (part of the Great Student Invasion), and there met his first wife, Denise, a resident of Dunfermline, Scotland. [I'm leaving much out, to be added another day.] Let me just say that while there he developed an almost pathological appreciation for Irish and Celtic music. It would be at least a decade before the rest of the country caught onto that little conceit.
After his return to the States, he: 1) woodshedded more than any human being should be forced to to learn all the Celtic tunes he could; even learning to play the tenor banjo. 2) He married Denise and almost as quickly divorced her. 3) Joined the Irish group The Vagabonds, formed by Scotsman Benny McInally. Benny opened The Tartan Tammy pub in Santa Monica, the fate of which I am unaware.
One morning, hours before he was to begin another day as a loan office for United California Bank in Torrance, California, he got a call from another Irish band–this one in Las Vegas, Nevada. The job he was offered sounded so much better than the other that he immediately said “yes” and was on a plane the following day.
Scimé made Las Vegas his “home” for the next 25 years, although he actually lived in Blue Diamond Village, located within the Red Rock Canyon NationalConservation Area.
In 1994, while pursuing a Master’s Degree from the Institute for Ethics & Policy Studies at UNLV, he wrote a paper called <cyberville> and the Spirit of Community, which discussed the social networking aspects of the nascent Internet. This led to a fascination with the social and commercial potentialities of the World Wide Web and Scimé next 25 years building The Internet ADvantage, a successful web design and hosting company, that grossed six figures in some years. He was also an innovator in marketing, packaging, and imaginating.
PROFESSIONAL STORY
In 1999, he was approached by a Costa Rican company that needed some advice on how to get higher listings on the major search engines, a process known as Search Engine Optimization, or SEO. At first Scimé was not initially interested, as he was already a successful entrepreneur.
In 2000, Scimé moved to Northern Nevada, with the intention of earning a Master’s Degree in Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno, which he did in 2005. By this time, he had discovered that his exceptional writing skills, the creative tension between his right and left hemispheres, and his recently diagnosed A.D.H.D. made him a perfect candidate for becoming a top SEO. In 2005, he went into SEO and Internet Consulting on a full-time basis.
For various clients, Scimé DBA SIteFixers.com, has created and currently maintains blogs on Blogger.com, TypePad.com, com, and recently WordPress.com. He considers himself a wordsmith, with an abundance of creativity and problem solving skills; these attributes should make him a heavy favorite in this highly competitive field.
